We love our cats, and our cats love us. But sometimes love alone is not enough to create a happy, harmonious relationship. Cats don’t think the way we do, don’t experience the world the way we do. They have their own complex inner lives. They absolutely have emotions, but they’re not always the same emotions we have. So, for example, they don’t pee outside the litterbox to get back at you for going on vacation or scratch the couch because they don’t like your date. They are simply reacting to the world around them in typically feline ways.

Sometimes, those feline behaviors can get in the way of a loving relationship. I can help. I’m a cat behavior consultant. I’ve been working with clients and their cats for more than a decade, using positive reinforcement-based training, the scientific principles of behavior modification, and an understanding of natural feline behavior and the cat’s senses to help people figure out what’s behind their cat’s behavior and how we can change it. We do this by meeting the cat’s basic needs, rewarding the behaviors we want to see, and setting the cat up for success.

I can help with:

  • Basic manners

  • Feline skills training

  • Introducing cats

  • Litterbox problems

  • Helping scaredy cats and shy kitties

  • Cats and babies (and toddlers too)

  • Howling, yowling, and kitten crazies

  • Destructive scratching

  • Aggression toward humans

  • Cats fighting

. . . and more. There’s always a compromise between what you need and what your cat needs, so you both are happy.
